Cologne, May 11, 2021 – DEUTZ BUSINESS SCHOOL (DBS) in Zafra in the south of Spain officially opened today. Among the guests at the ceremony were representatives of DEUTZ AG, the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernandez Vara, the German Ambassador to Spain, Wolfgang Dold, and the Head of the German-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Walther von Plettenberg.

Located at DEUTZ Spain’s site, DBS works in partnership with educational institutions such as the University of Extremadura and the Instituto Lean Management to offer an open educational model for DEUTZ employees and external students. Practical training and continuing professional development are particularly important to DEUTZ and have a long tradition in the company. The manufacturer of innovative drive technologies launched its first inhouse training 101 years ago.

In his opening speech, Dr. Frank Hiller, Chairman of the Board of Management of DEUTZ AG, said: “Passing on knowledge and expertise is becoming increasingly important in our rapidly changing world. Enabling and promoting lifelong learning is therefore part of how we see ourselves as a company and employer. DEUTZ BUSINESS SCHOOL plays an important role in this. Investment in knowledge is always an investment in the future, as this is the only way to remain innovative – and competitive.”

“I am delighted that DEUTZ BUSINESS SCHOOL has officially opened today, albeit a little later than expected. Unfortunately, coronavirus has repeatedly put our plans on hold. Now, we can finally look forward to further successes and to sharing our knowledge in person, hopefully in the near future. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the school’s principal, Ms. Carolina Grau,” said Eugenio Serrano, CEO of DEUTZ Spain.

DEUTZ BUSINESS SCHOOL was established in 2018. DEUTZ Spain is both the owner of the institution and the founder of the DBS Foundation. The first 18 students and employees received their postgraduate Lean Practitioner diplomas from DBS in October 2019. Around 550 students attended DEUTZ BUSINESS SCHOOL in 2020. To date, the school has accompanied 130 alumni throughout their training and won the Excellence Award of the German-Spanish Chamber of Commerce in 2019.
