The Volvo Group and Cologne-based engine supplier DEUTZ have been working closely together for a long time. In 1998, the two companies signed an agreement for the development and supply of four to seven-litre diesel engines. The agreement was concluded with a term of 15 years and is due to end in 2013.
The new supply agreement will come into effect from 1 January 2014. Among other aspects, it sets out the further development of DEUTZ medium duty engines for the European COM IV and US Tier 4 Final exhaust emissions standards. Under the agreement, DEUTZ will remain the sole supplier of 4-8 litre engines for Volvo construction equipment.
DEUTZ will also continue to supply engines that comply with the Euro 3, 4 and 5 emissions stan-dards for current installations on Volvo commercial vehicles.
